  2. I'm most interested in counseling psychology. Job in this field are available in colleges and universities, mental health centers, rehabilitation centers, family services, Veteran medical centers, private practice, and business firms.
This field generally requires 5-6 years of schooling, as well as supervised experience or an internship. Median salary is $64,000.
I chose this field because I plan on becoming a therapist. Having experienced various traumas and being "in the system", so to speak, I feel I can offer better help to those in need of support and counseling than others with less personal experience with certain issues. I like helping people, and I know what it's like to have a therapist who doesn't understand. I want to be a positive influence in the lives of others.

  3. I'm most interested in psychiatry because it's more medically involved and more focused on treating psychological disorders. I also want help war veterans with their transition back into society because I want to go into the military and it's tragic how little help our troops receive when they come back. It requires an M.D. degree, plus 4 to 6 years residency which takes 12 to 14 years of school. This kind of concerns me because it would take even longer for me since I want to spend time as an officer in the military. I could have my own private practice, be in a hospital, or do research. Psychiatrists could make $85,000 to $260,000 with an average of $192,000.

  4. The field of psychology that interests me the most is psychiatry because I believe it is the most credible and medical related field. With being a psychiatrist you will be able to counsel people, prescribe medicine and diagnose and treat psychological disorders. If you become a psychiatrist you usually will be working in private practice or a hospital setting. 12-14 years of schooling are required if you choose not to specialize. The over all pay annually is $84,000- $260,000. I am set on become a psychiatrist in the future and since I am going to make this into a future career I picked this field out of all the other choices. I want to be a psychiatrist for people with mental disorders like, bipolar and schizophrenia. -Joe Muhlenkamp

  5. The most interesting field of psychology would have to be the clinical fields. Jobs included in clinical psychology would be working with another doctor in a private practice or working in a hospital; the job includes helping to diagnose mental disorders and things of this sort. In regards to education, some clinical psychologists are able to find jobs with only a Masters degree, however, most of the time a Doctorate is required. As of 2008, the average salary for a clinical psychologist who works in a public hospital would be $64,140; however, a clinical psychologist working in a private practice has an average salary of $68,400. Out of all the fields of psychology, this one is the most interesting because it involves a lot of communication; it also comes with the satisfaction of helping others while continuously learning.

  7. The field of psychology that I am most interested in at this point in time is definitely sociocultural psychology. This is because the main thing that everybody deals with every day is people. We are even affected by the absence of people. Whether it is too impress their friends, boss or even parents humans act different ways for different people. Although we would like to say that we all treat each other equally this is not so. I'm interested in this field because one job people can have is trying to get workers motivated in a company. This specific job is called and Industrial/organizations psychologist. The salary for such an occupation is around $86,500 annually. The amount of schooling for this is 6 years for a master or 8 years for a Ph.D. This is my favorite field because I feel like I enjoy seeing the relationships between people.

  8. The field of psychology that interests me the most is a psychiatric social worker (Masters of Social Work). The type of jobs a psychiatric social worker would have includes a trauma counselor (people struggling with abuse or divorce), for company workers and their families, the sick and injured in hospitals, and in schools. They would have to get their Masters or a Licensed Clinical Social Work Degree. They make approximately 47K. I'd prefer this field over others because of the variety of people to help and counsel to, the multiple field within this one that I could specialize in, and the socio-cultural emphasis.

  9. The field of psychology that most interests me is psychodynamics, which took it's roots from early psychoanalysis, because I am interested in learning how childhood experiences inadvertently affect the unconscious mind. A person who specializes in psychodynamics can become either a psychiatrist or a psychologist, having in-depth training with Sigmund Freud's ideas of sexual repression causing nervous disorders and how childhood experiences affect a person's unconscious mind as they grow older. A psychiatrist is someone with a M.D. (Medical doctorate), therefore they must go through years of grueling medical school, but in the end it is worth it because they earn, on average, about $192,052. Psychologists earn between $35,000 and $90,000 and require a Ph.D, Psy.D, or an Ed.D). This is my favorite of all the choices because the unconscious mind and the childhood influences on it greatly interest me.

It would take about 10-11 years of school for a psychiatrist and I would need my M.S.W. and L.C.S.W. so the psychiatric social worker. The pay is around 67,000 or so for a social worker and 150,000 or so. And i chose these two because they interest me most. 12. I think I would like to be a Cognitive psychologist. I would like this field of psychology the most because it is most interesting to me and it applies most to my life right now. As a junior taking AP classes it is my job to study and work hard. This means of course, wrote memorization, and great frustration over the lack of. Memorization tricks and how they work and stick to your brain when other things don't, is really interesting. Learning the keys to defeat procrastination and other mentalities that are not helpful is completely efficacious to accumulating healthy and effective study habits and ethics. -kaylie gearke

  13. The biopsychological perspective interests me most because I have always thought of the mind and body as altogether separate entities. I am curious to learn how different biological occurrences can affect the way a person or animal thinks and acts. For instance, hormones and genetic influences can change a person's outlook and thought processes entirely. One who majors in biopsychology could qualify to become a teacher, researcher, technical writer, laboratory worker or assistant, psychologist, or psychiatrist. It is possible to earn a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate in psychology with a concentration in biopsychology. It could take up to 14 years to become a certified psychiatrist. The average salary per year for a biopsychologist is $43,000.

  17. Social and personality psychology interests me the most. If I were to go into this field I could teach or research at universities, work in departments of psychology but also in departments of business, education, political science, justice studies, law, health sciences, and medicine. Also I could be a consultant or political strategist. Most social/personality psychologists seek a doctoral degree, but it varies in the amount of education needed. They can make anywhere from $8,000 to $60,00 depending on the type of work they do. This one is my favorite because I think it's interesting to learn about and observe social behavior, and to try to understand how we think and at. Also, why we think the way we do.

  18. I think cognitive psychology is the most interesting field because it deals with thought processes and the way a person's mind goes through information. You can teach at colleges or work with children or memory loss patients. The schooling is rigorous and it's 4-5 years of a PhD program and then an internship with a licensed cognitive psychology. The median annual salary is $89,900. I picked this field because I think mind processes are very interesting and I like to figure out why a person does certain things.

  19. I am most interested in the field of psychiatric psychology, which studies the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. In order to become a psychiatrist you must enroll in specific courses (usually in the way of medicine), followed by four years of medical schooling to receive an M.D. or D.O. then practice as a psychiatric resident for another four years. The long schooling will pay off in the end (literally) considering the average salary of a psychiatrist is around $144,020 a year. Six figures...yes please! This field is my favorite because I find mental disorders intriguing, and interesting. I would truly like helping people to overcome their mental illness, and reach a state of peace within themselves

  20. I am interested in the field of psychodynamics. Psychoanalysts utilize the theories of Sigmund Freud to diagnose patients and discover the origins of mental illnesses within the human mind via analysis of past experiences and such. Generally, a Ph.D is required in order to be a licensed, self-employed psychoanalyst. This entails eight years of collegiate level schooling, as well as various independent studies. Remarkably, in Arizona, the average alotted salary for psychoanalysts in private practices is $150,000. This field interests me the most because it allows for understanding of the darker side of the human mind, which in turn can help for a better future.
